I am very sad to hear of another Hill loss so soon after the death of Carol. I first met Tony over twenty years ago in his home in Grove Avenue where he and Carol were having a party for Peter’s birthday. Tony seemed gently spoken, clever and very welcoming. After that, at weddings, christmases, births, birthdays where he always seemed very proud of his wonderfully close and growing family. He never took centre stage of conversations but he always managed to come and have a thoughtful quiet conversation and catch up with me. I enjoyed those chats which weren’t about the weather or a polite passing of time but a genuine interest in my family. Nan was particularly fond of Tony and had a real soft spot for him. I can’t remember how many times she spoke about how thoughtfully he’d looked after her and Aunty Ethel at Peter and Anna’s wedding. In later years dementia took away his wry smiles, raised eyebrows around the table that used to make me smile. It’s a terrible disease and he seemed far too young. Lots of love to the whole family x
